Much of the ideas and values we hold are not of our own making. We’re inundated with capitalist messaging from the minute we hop out the womb. Certain values are thrust upon us, along with definitions of success, happiness, and freedom that, even if attained, probably aren’t leading to you feeling especially successful, happy, or free. Especially if you’re born or raised in the heart of empire, they are rooted in exploitation, violence, and colonization. To realize revolution, inner work is required to shift our actions.
