we’re kay and erica joy!
sisters from Charleston, South Carolina
descendants of the transatlantic slave trade, cultivating a connection to our ancestors and making room for them in our lives
nonbinary Blackwomen, acknowledging how womanhood was constructed in opposition to our very beings and rejecting the gender binary and its violent roots and enforcement,
seeking out and cultivating ways to conduct our community work beyond these structures,
and with folks aligned with our values and radical praxis
and outside of emotionally taxing and energy-sucking schools and non-profits, which devalued the work we wanted to do and limited the healing potential for all parties involved,
as it’s amazing to connect with our diasporic kin over honoring—finding joy in—our soulhood, our hearts, our natal promises.
we feel called most deeply to work with communities we’ve historically supported and those who share our multiply marginalized positionality, including but not limited to survivors of sexual /interpersonal violence, queer & trans people of color, the (formerly) incarcerated, disabled people, and/or house/homeless people
This work is grounded in our ((evolving)) truths.
our practice is rooted primarily in this expansive experience,
it’s so hard to learn anything true when yt supremacist thought sets its claws into most all accessible knowledge, but
we hope to be an exception, we hope to help guide you to yourself, your inner knowing, your cosmic fingerprint,
so that you may bring it forward, heal through it, and luxuriate in it
and connect you with others on parallel and intersecting journeys
because healing can be liberating,
community organizing can be therapeutic, accessible, organic
and we find that astrology is a beautiful medium + context + tool for that connection and liberation
kay - astrologer
hello! i’m kay, darling (pronouns: kay/we/she/they)
a jupiterian — sagittarius rising, leo sun, virgo moon
all about fugitivity, resting, loving my loved ones as best i can, communicating, community building, warm winds, sunshine, sharing spliffs, lying in bed
i’m a writer + poet, a meaning making muse
you can find examples of my personal, and sometimes astro, writings here
years ago i got my degree in the global politics of agriculture, realized all institutions are hell, and fell in love with the stars - as well as Earth, a being in her own right
the planets and the zodiac and the cycles—the revolutions!—are the lens through which i live my life.
astrology doesn’t mean anything singular, and every reader has their own way of doing things, their own perspective and study
i’m here for those who feel called to me for guidance in translating and understanding the infinite joys, wonders, and woes spelled out in the [solar] system we're born into. how they manifest on the ground—in our bodies, spirits, relationships, and histories.
astrology has been paramount to my personal healing, my peace with what is, my curiosity on my path, my core values, and my relationships. Its gifts and truths have been affirmed and validated numerous times, and I am overjoyed to have now learned enough to be able to communicate and interpret these gifts and truths for others, continuing to learn in this way.
i’ve been an ~enthusiast~ since 2014 and began studying in great depth in 2018, offering readings in a ~professional~ capacity in 2021, and identifying as a revolutionary astrologer in 2024, now developing my own theories and practice for collective liberation.
i find my practice currently sourced in
my worldviews: ecowomanism, anti-imperialism+colonialism, healing justice
my somatic experience: chronic illness, an agonizing menstrual cycle
my education: environmental analysis, the politics of agriculture, disability studies, critical race theory
my training in: trauma-informed care, survivor advocacy, Black emotional + mental health, tarot
my personal study: embodiment practices, harm reduction & drug use
my lovestyle: (solo) polyamory, community care
my travels: across six continents and 25 countries with a fraught mission of de-conditioning my American indoctrinization
my readings reflect my love of language, pattern-finding and meaningful conversation
if it means anything to you, i use an amalgam of elemental, modern, evolutionary, mundane, psychological, synastry and intuitive tropical astrology in my readings, slowly integrating my study into sidereal astrology into my practice
erica joy - facilitator
I am a taurus sun with an aries rising and aries moon.
I am a fat, Black queer person who’s really just tryna:
live™️ —in sort of isolation bc we’re still in a pandemic
laugh™️ —because the mirth is good for the body
love™️ —my homies past, present, + future
&
learn 🎓—how to let go of the insecure voice in my head that is yt supremacy
In true Taurus fashion, I am determined to prioritize rest and bask in what makes me happy. Right now, that looks like reading cute comics, making semi-elaborate meals, watching the birds in the tree outside my window, singing + dancing in the kitchen, and debriefing reality tv with friends.
Cosmic Healing is a community endeavor, and as such, there needs to be opportunities to meet and support one another, so I organize community spaces for the CH Fam. I plan + lead virtual group conversations, multi-week group programs, and a community newsletter that brings together thoughts and requests from our CH fam. Be notified about these opportunities by filling out this email list form.
I also support the community one-on-one through peer support sessions. After seeing the way social work can perpetuate the oppressive structures we live under, I realized the importance of approaching this work in my own way with my values of liberation and care at the forefront. These peer support sessions are a way to be intentionally self-reflective and introspective without turning to traditional therapy. Book a session with me here!
My facilitation style and values
I love working with people one-on-one, but seeing people connect and bond is so fulfilling! Co-creating a space! Planning activities! I have been facilitating group discussions for over 8 years, beginning my journey as president of French club (lol). While attending Seattle University c/o ‘21, I continued leading conversations as a team leader for my university’s Center for Community Engagement, a group leader for orientation and new student retreat, co-president of our gender justice center, and as president of our QTPOC club. In my final year of my Social Work program, I took a course dedicated to group work while also co-facilitating a creative arts group at a community mental health organization.
Whether 3 or 10 or 50—group work has the capacity to form relationships, expand perspectives, and lead to change. I have a pretty adaptive facilitating style being that I’m an earth sun, fire rising + moon, water venus, and air mars; I can keep the conversation grounded, hype the group up, and create space for all the feels. That being said, I tend to lean towards semi-structured and directed group planning, allowing for space to alter the session in real time based on the needs of the group. I practice from the mindset that while I have the title of facilitator, everyone involved in the group helps to create the dynamic. Please ask your fellow group members questions and share your reactions. I acknowledge (and love!) that each group has different goals and energies that impact the dynamic and needs of the time we spend together. I like to bring different activities and ways of reflecting into the group, this could look like participants bringing in a song to share with the group or doing a quick art activity or maybe even doing a show-and-tell.
I lead with a pro- fat, Black, and queer lens. I reject white supremacy and its values that have seeped into our society. I believe we as people all have the capacity to cause harm, and we need to be held accountable when those mistakes are made. In groups, it is not uncommon for uncomfortable situations to come up. As a facilitator, I understand that I have a responsibility to re-ground our space. We each have different thresholds and experience the same actions/words differently, so it is necessary for members to let me know when harm they want addressed has occurred. I am currently educating myself on the Transformative Justice process, so I can approach any situations to the best of my ability.
In my social work program, I learned that because spaces were client-centered, I could not share about myself and my experiences, BUT with Cosmic Healing Family—we are indeed FAMILY, so for our groups, please know that I will also be processing, healing, and growing with you.
